Cultural Heritage Live Brings Communities Together at Mall Wood Green

Cultural Heritage Live returned to Mall Wood Green on 16 May, bringing together communities from across London for a vibrant day of cultural celebration as part of the inaugural Cultural Heritage Month.

Taking place in City Square, the six-hour programme featured fashion, music, dance and cultural showcases celebrating the diversity that makes London one of the world's most vibrant and multicultural cities.

Throughout the day, visitors were invited to experience cultures from around the world through live performances, community participation and creative expression.

The event reflected the core purpose of Cultural Heritage Month: creating opportunities for people to celebrate their heritage while encouraging greater understanding, appreciation and connection between communities. Through fashion, arts, music and storytelling, Cultural Heritage Month aims to create spaces where cultures can be explored and celebrated side by side.

One of the highlights of the day was the strong community participation throughout the programme. From children proudly showcasing cultural attire on the runway to performers sharing traditions, music and dance from different parts of the world, the event demonstrated how culture can bring people together and create meaningful opportunities for learning and exchange.

Visitors also had the opportunity to enjoy a diverse programme featuring cultural fashion showcases, live music performances, traditional and contemporary dance, and community-led presentations celebrating heritage and identity. The event welcomed families, shoppers, local residents and visitors, creating an inclusive and accessible celebration in the heart of North London.

A special moment during the event came when The Mayor of Haringey, Councillor Ahmed Mahbub, joined the celebrations, sharing encouraging words with attendees and taking part in the community runway show.

Speaking after the event, Candy-Ellie Graham (centre), Founder of Cultural Fashion & Arts CIC, said: "Bringing Cultural Heritage Live to Mall Wood Green felt like a full-circle moment. Some of our earliest Cultural Style Week exhibitions, activations and Expo events took place here and played an important role in helping us grow the movement. Returning with Cultural Heritage Month, which expands that vision beyond fashion into a broader celebration of culture, heritage and community, felt incredibly special. It was wonderful to see so many people come together to celebrate their own heritage while learning about others."
